From the 1940s until the late 1960s, Art (also known as Mode Art) produced jewelry in a variety of styles, including replicas or reinterpretations of Renaissance, Victorian, and Art Nouveau designs. Floral, fruit and leaf motifs predominate, but there are also animal motifs. Characteristic materials and techniques: filigree, enamel, stucco or engraved polychrome plastic, rhinestones - the latter are often monochromatic and clustered for a very dramatic effect. Artistic jewelry, usually marked by high quality workmanship, is in increasing demand, and their price has risen accordingly.
